It’s Great, To Be, A Florida Gator!

Well, Gator nation, these days it truly is a great thing to be a Florida Gator.  I dare say that no one ever gave us a chance to go 6-0.  I am truly a believer in my gators, every year, no matter how well or how poorly we may play.  The fact of the matter is, that on any given Saturday, ANY team can win.  All the planets just have to be aligned correctly, the so-called “lower team” has to have an outstanding day, and the so-called “stronger team” has to be so over-confident that they forget that they actually have to show up to win the game.  Don’t laugh.  I have seen it happen!

That leads me to my point about this weekend’s game at Auburn.  Don’t be fooled by Auburn’s big loss last week to then-unranked Arkansas.  Yes they truly didn’t have much offense, and Yes they made mistakes and Yes they couldn’t stop Arkansas.  All these things are true.  However, don’t think that it’s likely to happen 2 weeks in a row.   Anyone know when was the last time Auburn lost 2 back-to-back games at home?  I sure don’t.  My point is this.  Yes, we are 6-0.  Are we truly the number 2 team in the country?  I don’t know, but I suspect we’ll learn alot about this Gator team this week under the lights of a hostile Jordan Hare Stadium.  Oh, and let’s not forget the old Riverboat Gambler, Tommy Tuberville.  That guy has more lives than the perverbial cat!  Can Florida win?  Absolutely!  Will Florida win?  Well, that’s the question, isn’t it?  Let me put it to you this way…

Florida will win if the following happens:

1.  Florida has its best Offensive game of the year.
2.  Florida has its best Defensive game of the year.
3.  Florida secures the football.
4.  Florida has it’s best Special Teams game of the year.
5.  Florida “takes care of business” and avoids the big head after all this week’s hype.
6.  Florida has the fewest turnovers.
7.  Florida has the most takeaways.
8.  Florida scores the most points.
9.  Florida has the fewest penalities (OK, this one is a stretch)
10.  Florida has the most Luck!

Come to think of it, that’s how any team can win on any given Saturday.

  1. [...] The Florida Gators have not played since the ambush by Auburn on October 14th. Recent commentors agree that Florida will bounce back like a rock; and will fall off the charts by losing to Georgia this weekend. And ahh..let’s not blame the officials this time. [...]
